Simple Joy

I have a special place in my heart for different and unique things, which happens to extend to my reading selections.

Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins I have to say I liked it. Not because it was fantastic, because it was realistic. She didn't give us the fairy tale ending, where Katniss got everthing, and no one was left alone.

She gave us probably the best alternative to the fairy tale however. You look at the way she could've ended this...

Superficial, and had it come down to picking one of the two loves--completely destroying the underlying message of this book, on how devastating war is for a confused nation.

Bloody and action packed, but leaving the reader completely devastated and hating the time they spent on the series.

Continuing with the theme history repeats itself, but that couldn't tie up all the loose ends going on.

Or the choice that she made. I thought it was oddly fitting, and I know some will think that's messed up. It comes down to, can you imagine, emotionally, any other alternative?
